Litchfield Shuts Out North Greene in Pitcher’s Duel
A strong pitching performance from Aria Feeley propelled the Litchfield softball team to a 2-0 shutout victory over North Greene on Thursday. In a tight, defensive-heavy non-conference battle, Feeley kept the North Greene offense off balance throughout all seven innings.
Litchfield struck first in the opening frame, manufacturing a run to take an early 1-0 lead. They managed to manufacture an insurance run in the fourth inning to stretch the lead to 2-0. That narrow margin proved sufficient, as Feeley’s presence in the circle was dominant. She surrendered just four hits while striking out nine North Greene batters over the course of the complete-game shutout.
Charlie Bono provided the key offensive spark for the Purple Panthers, recording a hit and an RBI. Camie Stump also contributed a hit, while the team remained patient at the plate, drawing five walks to keep pressure on the North Greene defense.
On the other side, North Greene’s C. Castleberry pitched a gutsy complete game for the Spartans, allowing only two hits and one earned run, but Litchfield’s consistency in the field and on the mound secured the victory.
