Elvidge’s 12 Kills Power Lincolnwood Past Litchfield in Straight Sets

RAYMOND, Ill. — Tori Elvidge hammered 12 kills on .281 hitting and Reagan Penrod ran a clean offense with 23 assists as Lincolnwood swept visiting Litchfield 2-0 in a non-conference volleyball match on Sept. 28.

The Lancers improved to 16-10 with a balanced attack that produced 27 kills and a .278 team hitting percentage across the two sets. Litchfield fell to 6-14.

Elvidge was the focal point from the outset, taking 32 of Lincolnwood’s 72 swings and converting more than a third of them into kills. Behind her, Macie Daugherty was the most efficient hitter on the floor, putting away five kills on 10 attempts for a .400 clip, while junior Hannah Hill added five kills on .286 hitting. Freshman Lilyan Hill chipped in three kills, and Sophia Painter and Penrod each added one.

Penrod directed it all. The junior setter handled 59 balls with just two errors, distributed 23 assists and still led all players on the floor with 13 digs. Camryn Poggenpohl anchored the back row and the serve-receive, digging 11 balls and handling 21 receptions with only two errors — a workload that kept the Lancers in system and let Penrod feed Elvidge in rhythm.

Lincolnwood’s serving was similarly steady. The Lancers missed just three serves all match while piling up service points, with Penrod accounting for 12 and Yza Alipaton and Poggenpohl adding six apiece. Alipaton, Elvidge, Penrod and Poggenpohl each recorded an ace.

Litchfield’s best stretches came from its seniors and its defense. Amari Vickery led the Purple Panthers with seven kills and matched Kyndal Law with a team-high seven digs. Lexi Logan was busy on all three touches, posting four kills, a team-best eight digs and three service aces — the only aces of the night for the visitors. Junior Jada Carroll added five kills and sophomore Kyleigh Zhang one.

Setter Leighton Warchol handed out 12 of Litchfield’s 15 assists, averaging six per set. The Purple Panthers were steady in serve receive, where Law took 11 attempts and Vickery nine, but 13 attack errors and a handful of ball-handling miscues made points hard to come by against a Lincolnwood block that put up six total team blocks, two apiece from Elvidge and Hannah Hill.

At the net, Litchfield was charged with six block errors, including two by Zhang, as the Lancers repeatedly found seams on the outside.
