North Mac Sweeps Litchfield 2-0 in Conference Volleyball Match
LITCHFIELD — North Mac handed Litchfield a straight-set conference loss on Sept. 25, taking the road match 2-0 at Litchfield High School.
The Purple Panthers got production from their front row but could not string together enough stops to force a third set. Litchfield finished with 20 kills across the two sets, led by junior Jada Carroll, who put down eight for a team-best 4.0 kills per set. Senior Amari Vickery added five kills, junior Jennah Longwell contributed four and senior Lexi Logan chipped in two.
Setter Leighton Warchol ran the Litchfield offense from start to finish. The senior distributed 18 assists — 9.0 per set — and accounted for the bulk of the Purple Panthers’ attack opportunities. Warchol was also Litchfield’s most effective server, delivering two of the team’s three aces. Junior Samantha Rieke served the other.
Litchfield’s errors told much of the story. The Purple Panthers committed 12 attack errors on the night, with Carroll accounting for four, Vickery three and Logan three, repeatedly giving North Mac free points in extended rallies. Litchfield also recorded 15 dig errors and seven service errors across the match.
In the back row, senior Kyndal Law was the steadying presence. Law handled 20 serve receptions — 10.0 per set — and led the defense with seven digs, adding an assist for good measure. Rieke added two digs and three receptions, while Warchol contributed two digs from the setter position.
At the net, sophomore Kyleigh Zhang was Litchfield’s most productive blocker with two total blocks, including one solo and one assisted stuff. Carroll added a solo block.
The win moved North Mac to 4-12 on the season. Litchfield fell to 5-11.
