Litchfield and Collinsville Split Team Honors at Four-Way Middle School Track Meet

LITCHFIELD, Ill. — The Litchfield Middle School track and field teams defended their home turf with a pair of team victories, while Collinsville proved to be a formidable challenger during a four-team meet on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Battling against Jerseyville Community and Greenville, Litchfield and Collinsville split the team titles across the four middle school divisions, resulting in a thrilling afternoon of competition.

Litchfield captured the 7th-grade boys’ title by a razor-thin margin, edging Collinsville 90-88, while the Litchfield girls dominated the 7th-grade division with 111 total points. Collinsville took the 8th-grade boys’ crown with 92.5 points, and the 8th-grade girls’ competition ended in a dead heat, with Litchfield and Collinsville tying for first place at 85 points apiece. Jerseyville placed third across all divisions, while Greenville rounded out the standings in fourth.

In the 8th-grade boys’ division, Collinsville’s Kyrie Brown delivered a standout performance. Brown swept the short sprints, taking the 100-meter dash and clocking a 24.82 in the 200-meter dash. He also showcased his explosive athletic ability by winning the long jump with a personal-best leap of 5.99 meters. Teammate Kaiden McCaster was equally essential to the team’s victory, adding first-place finishes in the 400 meters (57.54), the 110-meter hurdles (17.71), and the high jump (1.52m).

For Litchfield, 8th-grader Atlas DeWitt commanded the distance events, winning both the 800 meters (2:36.79) and the 1600 meters (5:26.46).

The 7th-grade boys’ competition saw strong performances from Litchfield’s Dexter Link, who won the 1600 meters in a personal-best 5:22.83, and Clark Cress, who cleared 1.57 meters to win the high jump. Jerseyville’s Josue Porras-Sanchez secured the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.2 seconds, and teammate Carter Johnson set a personal best of 2:27.03 to cross first in the 800 meters.

Litchfield’s 7th-grade girls were paced by Chloe Seaton, who won the 800 meters (2:39.97) and the long jump (3.63m). Lynnox Kessler added a hometown victory in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:27.77.

In the 8th-grade girls’ division, Collinsville’s Rashya Horne proved dominant on the track, claiming the 100 meters (12.90) and the 200 meters (27.96). Litchfield’s Tinley Birkenkamp matched that dual success in the distance runs, winning the 800 meters (2:59.33) and the 1600 meters (6:23.35). Aubrie Boston also delivered critical points for Litchfield, taking the 100-meter hurdles in 16.80 seconds.

Relays played a crucial role in deciding the tight team standings. Collinsville swept the 7th- and 8th-grade boys’ 4×100 relays, while Litchfield’s girls won a combined six relay events across the 7th- and 8th-grade competitions.

In the field events, Jerseyville showed technical prowess in the vertical leaps. Stella Egelhoff won the 8th-grade girls’ pole vault by clearing 1.96 meters, and Parker Warford took the 7th-grade event. Jerseyville’s Grayson Mangara cleared 2.59 meters to win the 8th-grade boys’ pole vault, while Lana West secured the 8th-grade girls’ long jump with a 4.29-meter leap. Greenville’s top performances included Joey Sanchez taking third in the 8th-grade boys’ high jump and Emilia Graham capturing third in the 7th-grade girls’ 1600 meters.
