Harmon’s Brace Propels Litchfield to 3-1 Tournament Victory Over Staunton

Continuing their strong run of tournament play, the Litchfield varsity girls’ soccer team relied on a two-goal performance from sophomore McKenna Harmon to defeat Staunton 3-1 in a neutral-site matchup on Saturday.

Harmon proved to be incredibly efficient in the attacking third. While she registered just three shots on the day, she buried two of them to secure a crucial brace. Senior Chloe Law matched that offensive intensity by keeping the Staunton defense under constant duress, firing off a game-high eight shots and netting Litchfield’s third goal.

Litchfield controlled the overall flow of the match, outshooting Staunton by a decisive 19-5 margin. Sophomores Adia Melchert and Emma Weidner functioned as key playmakers, each delivering an assist to help unlock the Staunton backline. Adia Melchert also contributed four shots to the offensive barrage, while senior Avery Stewart registered two.

Staunton managed to break through Litchfield’s defense for a single tally, ending the shutout streak Litchfield had enjoyed in its previous tournament outings.
