Litchfield Secures 20th Win of the Season Following Forfeit by East Alton-Wood River

The Litchfield varsity girls soccer team picked up their 20th victory of the year without taking the pitch on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, as East Alton-Wood River forfeited the scheduled non-conference matchup.

The forfeit pushes Litchfield’s remarkable season record to 20-1-1 overall, keeping their flawless home record intact at a perfect 13-0. East Alton-Wood River, conversely, drops to 1-14 on the season.

While fans missed out on live action, the forfeit serves as a quiet moment in an otherwise thunderous 2026 campaign for Litchfield. Ranked sixth in their class in Illinois, the team has been an unstoppable force on both sides of the ball. Through 22 matches, Litchfield has outscored opponents by an overwhelming margin of 126 to 6, averaging 5.7 goals per game while boasting a stellar 0.265 team goals-against average.

The offensive charge this season has been spearheaded by standout Chloe Law, who leads the team with an astonishing 39 goals and 22 assists on 131 shots. Defensively, Litchfield has been virtually impenetrable, anchored by Emily Buzick in goal and a backline that routinely stifles opposing attacks.

Litchfield’s dominance is particularly clear when comparing common opponents between the two squads. In nine matches against shared foes—including Greenville, Roxana, and Hillsboro—Litchfield went a perfect 9-0. In those same matchups, East Alton-Wood River struggled to a 0-7 mark.

Litchfield will now look ahead to their next contest, carrying the momentum of a historic 20-win season as they prepare for the postseason.
