HILLSBORO — The Montgomery County Board on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, authorized a slate of repairs and fees related to its newly acquired property at 127 North Main Street, integrating the building into the county’s downtown footprint.

According to settlement documents in the board’s agenda packet, the county purchased the property from Rehabedge, LLC, for a total settlement amount of $210,270. To finalize the transaction, the board approved a $6,300 real estate commission fee to Reid-Baugher Century 21 for real estate services. The motion passed with a majority vote, with Board Member Evan Young voting against the expenditure.

To bring the building up to working order, the board unanimously approved two infrastructure upgrades: an amount not to exceed $4,800 to Bondurant Plumbing for necessary sewer repairs, and an amount not to exceed $1,900 to replace the building’s water heater.

The county also plans to integrate the new property into its existing technology network. Board Member Mark Hughes reported that the Buildings and Grounds Committee discussed options to run a fiber optic cable from the basement of the Courthouse Complex, boring underneath North Main Street, directly into the basement of the 127 North Main property.

In other facility-related business, the board unanimously approved a planned maintenance agreement with Altorfer Power Systems for the primary generator at the Courthouse Complex. The three-year agreement will cost $1,858 and matches a similar agreement already in place for the county jail.

Additionally, the board approved extended warranties from Altorfer Power Systems for both generators. The extended warranty for the Courthouse Complex generator will cost a one-time fee of $2,140, while the extended warranty for the Montgomery County Jail generator will cost $2,050.
