Oiling set for 35 street segments Sept. 1-3

Crews will apply road oil to 35 street segments in Litchfield over three days beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1, weather permitting, according to a schedule released by the city.

The work is divided by day, with nine segments scheduled for Sept. 1, 14 for Wednesday, Sept. 2, and 12 for Thursday, Sept. 3. Residents whose streets appear on the list are advised to plan accordingly.

The 2026 road oil list covers about 134,700 square yards of pavement and calls for roughly 47,150 gallons of oil applied at a rate of 0.35, along with about 1,358 tons of material.

Sept. 1

Work is scheduled on E. Prairie from West end to Maple, Kirk Drive from East end to West end, Sallee from Harrison to State, Golden from State to Harrison, Thomas from Harrison to Franklin, Parish from Harrison to State, Chapin from State to Maple, Maple from Ball Park to Clark, and Clark from Maple to State.

The Sept. 1 segments total approximately 39,400 square yards and 13,788 gallons of oil. Chapin, at 3,900 feet, and Clark, at 4,000 feet, are the longest stretches scheduled that day.

Sept. 2

Scheduled work includes Northcrest from North end to Woodlawn, Brentwood from North end to Woodlawn, Woodlawn from Brentwood to Northcrest, Vasel Drive from Woodlawn to Clark, Palmer from State to Franklin, Ferdon from Harrison to State, Hauser from State to St. Francis, Maple from North end to Hauser, Beach from Harrison to State, Park Place from Franklin to East end, Corwin from Harrison to State, Henrichs from State to East End, Weir from Harrison to State, and Monroe from Union to Sallee.

The second day covers the largest number of segments, totaling about 46,900 square yards and 16,427 gallons. Monroe is the longest single stretch on the list at 4,200 feet.

Sept. 3

Final-day work is scheduled on Jackson from North end to Clark and from Corwin to Union, Van Buren from Union to Hauser and from Clark to Sallee, Harrison from Sallee to Weir and from Weir to Union, Franklin from Union to Hauser and from Hauser to Thomas, Chestnut from Clark to Hauser and from Hauser to Union, Montgomery from Union to Clark, and Walnut from Chapin to Union.

Those segments account for roughly 48,400 square yards and 16,943 gallons, the largest single-day volume on the schedule.

Several streets appear more than once on the list because separate sections are being treated, including Jackson, Van Buren, Harrison, Franklin and Chestnut on the final day. Maple is scheduled for work on both Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 on different segments.
