Law, Harmon Net Hat Tricks as Litchfield Routs Metro-East Lutheran 9-0

Behind brilliant hat tricks from senior Chloe Law and sophomore McKenna Harmon, the Litchfield varsity soccer team rolled to a dominant 9-0 non-conference victory over visiting Metro-East Lutheran on Monday evening.

Litchfield’s offense was firing on all cylinders from the opening whistle, amassing 28 shots and applying constant, suffocating pressure on the Knights’ defense. Law was the undeniable offensive engine for the hosts, factoring into six of the team’s nine goals. The senior midfielder controlled the tempo, finishing with three goals and matching that production with three assists.

Harmon was equally lethal in the attacking third. The sophomore striker buried three goals of her own and added an assist to cap off a stellar seven-point performance.

The scoring parade was bolstered by a strong supporting cast. Sophomore Adia Melchert contributed heavily to the onslaught with a goal and a pair of assists, while sophomore Emma Weidner and freshman Mataya Melchert each found the back of the net to round out the scoring for Litchfield.

Defensively, Litchfield completely neutralized Metro-East Lutheran, limiting the visitors to a single shot for the entirety of the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Lynzie Reid earned the clean sheet in net, tallying three saves to secure the shutout victory.

Despite facing a relentless barrage of shots, Metro-East Lutheran sophomore goalkeeper Tahlea Heard fought hard in the crease, registering 11 saves. Junior Taylor Maack recorded the lone shot of the evening for the Knights, while junior Annika Jenkins and senior Alyssa Bivens each tallied a steal in the defensive effort.
