Litchfield Girls Soccer Unleashes Nine-Goal First Half to Overwhelm Beardstown 9-0

LITCHFIELD, Ill. — The Litchfield varsity girls’ soccer team put on an absolute offensive clinic on Wednesday afternoon, erupting for nine first-half goals to easily dispatch visiting Beardstown 9-0 in a non-conference matchup at Litchfield High School.

The match was essentially decided in the opening 40 minutes. Litchfield’s high-powered attack overwhelmed the Beardstown defense from the opening whistle, finding the back of the net nine separate times before the halftime break. With the commanding lead secured, Litchfield shifted its focus to possession and defense in the second half, coasting through a scoreless final 40 minutes to secure the shutout victory.

The lopsided victory perfectly aligns with the dominant form Litchfield has displayed all season. The team improves to a staggering 10-1-1 overall and remains undefeated at home (6-0). Throughout the 2026 campaign, the Litchfield squad has been an offensive juggernaut and a defensive fortress.

Heading into the week, Litchfield’s attack has been spearheaded by sophomore McKenna Harmon, who leads the team with 11 goals on 57 shots. Senior Chloe Law has been the maestro of the offense, boasting a team-high nine assists. On the defensive end, sophomore goalkeeper Lynzie Reid continues to anchor a backline that rarely concedes, carrying a phenomenal 0.444 goals-against average.

Beardstown drops to 4-3-1 overall following the tough road test. Despite the lopsided scoreline against a top-tier opponent, Beardstown has maintained a winning record this season and will look to bounce back as they continue their non-conference slate.
