Mielke Dominates in the Circle and at the Plate as Litchfield Routs Marquette Catholic 14-4

The Litchfield varsity softball team delivered a resounding 14-4 non-conference home victory over Marquette Catholic on Monday, fueled by a massive 11-run fourth inning and a stellar two-way performance from Alexis Mielke.

Mielke was in complete control from the first pitch. The Litchfield starter tossed a complete-game five innings, pounding the strike zone with precision. She did not issue a single walk and struck out eight batters on an incredibly efficient 72 pitches. Backed by an offense that provided steady, consistent run support early, Mielke kept the Marquette Catholic bats largely at bay through the opening frames.

Litchfield established a comfortable rhythm early on, manufacturing single runs in the first, second, and third innings to build a 3-1 advantage. However, it was the bottom of the fourth inning that definitively broke the game wide open. Demonstrating incredible patience and discipline at the plate, Litchfield batters drew 13 walks throughout the contest, relentlessly turning the lineup over. That discipline set the table for an 11-run offensive eruption in the fourth that put the game out of reach.

Mielke helped her own cause tremendously, anchoring the lineup with a 2-for-3 day at the plate that included a double, a run scored, and a team-high three RBIs. Madi Rimar also delivered a clutch multi-hit performance, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Kinley Hemken added an RBI double and crossed the plate twice while drawing a pair of walks.

Speed also played a significant factor for the hosts. Charlie Bono and Chloe Green were constant threats on the basepaths. Bono stole two bases and scored a run to pair with two walks, while Green crossed the plate twice following a 2-for-3 showing.

Marquette Catholic showed some life in the late innings, spearheaded by junior Jayla Dickson, who blasted a pair of triples in a 2-for-3 performance. Bella Johnson also added two hits and a stolen base for the visitors. Marquette managed to rally for three runs in the top of the fifth, but Mielke quickly regrouped to shut the door and secure the 14-4 run-rule victory.
