Rochester’s Early Offensive Surge Overwhelms Litchfield in 10-0 Shutout

A ten-run barrage across the first two innings propelled the Rochester varsity softball team to a commanding 10-0 neutral-site victory over Litchfield on Saturday. Taking immediate control of the non-conference matchup, Rochester utilized an explosive offense to secure the run-rule victory in just four innings.

Rochester jumped out of the gates with a five-run opening frame, immediately putting Litchfield on its heels. They duplicated that success in the top of the second inning, plating another five runs to establish an insurmountable 10-0 advantage before the game even reached the third frame.

Litchfield’s offense struggled to find its footing against a locked-in Rochester pitching staff. The Litchfield lineup managed just one hit throughout the afternoon, unable to string together the momentum needed to cut into the deficit. Charlie Bono provided the lone spark at the plate for Litchfield, finishing 1-for-2.

Despite the lack of hits, Litchfield did find ways to get runners on base. Kinley Hemken, Emma Estell, and Chloe Green each showed patience at the plate to draw walks. However, the Rochester defense, which committed just one error, consistently clamped down with runners on, stranding four Litchfield baserunners to preserve the shutout.

In the circle for Litchfield, Aria Feeley took the loss, pitching three innings and striking out three batters while throwing 83 pitches. Feeley surrendered eight hits and ten runs, though three Litchfield fielding errors meant only eight of those runs were earned.

Following the chaotic first two innings, the game settled into a quieter rhythm. Both sides went scoreless in the third and fourth frames before the run rule was invoked, cementing Rochester’s decisive 10-0 win.
