Harmon’s Brace, Reid’s Shutout Propel Litchfield Girls Soccer Past Jacksonville 5-0

LITCHFIELD, Ill. — The Litchfield varsity girls’ soccer team continued its impressive run of form on Wednesday, utilizing a four-goal first-half barrage to comfortably defeat visiting Jacksonville 5-0 in a non-conference home matchup.

Sophomore McKenna Harmon was the offensive catalyst for Litchfield, pacing the squad with a game-high five points. Harmon routinely tested the Jacksonville defense, firing off six shots and securing a brace with two goals while adding an assist.

Senior standout Chloe Law also continued to serve as a central playmaker for Litchfield. Law factored heavily into the scoring with four points of her own, netting a goal and dishing out a pair of assists on just three shots.

The home team seized control immediately, building an insurmountable 4-0 lead before the halftime whistle. The team’s depth was on full display as multiple players capitalized on scoring opportunities. Freshman Mataya Melchert was highly efficient, coming off the bench to play 20 minutes and scoring a goal on her lone shot of the contest. Senior Avery Stewart also found the back of the net on one of her two attempts, while sophomore Adia Melchert helped facilitate the offense with an assist.

Defensively, Litchfield smothered Jacksonville’s attack to earn another clean sheet. Sophomore goalkeeper Lynzie Reid commanded the box, turning away all seven shots she faced to secure the 80-minute shutout.

Jacksonville struggled to find a rhythm against the relentless Litchfield pressure, managing just two corner kicks to Litchfield’s four. Senior goalkeeper Chloe Kuhn weathered a barrage of Litchfield attempts, ultimately allowing five goals but coming up with a clutch penalty kick save to deny the hosts another tally.
