IG finds 26 cases of sexual misconduct at Chicago schools
The Office of Inspector General for the Chicago Board of Education says it has substantiated 26 cases of adult-on-student sexual misconduct at Chicago Public Schools in the agency’s report for Fiscal Year 2025.
According to the report, six of the investigations resulted in criminal charges and four already resulted in convictions.
The OIG said it found many instances of adult-on-student sexual misconduct across two unnamed high schools located on one campus.
Fraudster sentenced
A federal judge has sentenced a Georgia man to more than five years in prison after he admitted to leading a check-cashing conspiracy.
Prosecutors say Traveon H. Reese, 31, of Atlanta, Georgia, stole the identities and checks belonging to local business owners and defrauded financial institutions across central and southern Illinois.
Reese faces 70 months of federal imprisonment following a 20-year term on similar state charges in Iowa.
Procurement seminars planned
The Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology Office of Supplier Diversity, in collaboration with the IT Procurement Office, announced new webinars as part of the “Leveraging Diversity in Technology Procurement” educational series.
“Mastering the State Contracting Game” is a five-part series designed to equip current and prospective IT vendors with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the state of Illinois’ procurement process.
Part One is Jan. 21 at 10:00 a.m. The monthly webinars are scheduled through May 13.
