Litchfield Community School District #12 Board of Education | September 17, 2026

Overall Meeting Summary

The Litchfield Board of Education held three public hearings and a regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at the District Office, 1100 N. Old Route 66, moving through a largely financial agenda in 74 minutes. The board adopted the fiscal year 2026-2027 budget after Superintendent Dr. Kelly McClain reported a stable financial position and a projected $140,000 Education Fund surplus (see separate coverage), adopted a three-year e-learning program to take the place of the district’s scheduled emergency days (see separate coverage), and rejected the lone bid received for a District Office sprinkler addition project, which will go back out for rebid (see separate coverage).

The board also approved two interfund transfers totaling just over $2 million, its annual risk management plan, a special education intergovernmental agreement with Hillsboro Community Unit School District #3, the 2027 high school graduation date, and four personnel items following a 27-minute closed session. President Julie Abel presided. Board members David Belusko and Mandy Jewell were absent from every item on the agenda, and every motion of the evening carried 5-0. Vice-President Ron Anglin made every motion recorded in the minutes.
