LITCHFIELD — Members of the Litchfield Fire Department recently completed two training courses hosted by the Taylorville Fire Department, the department said.

Four Litchfield firefighters traveled to Taylorville for a rope operations course focused on the technical skills used in complex rescue situations, according to the department. The course was hands-on and included firefighters from other area departments.

Two Litchfield firefighters took part separately in Taylorville’s Paramedic Live Week, which the department said covered advanced emergency medical care.

Ryan Evans was the instructor for the rope operations course. The department thanked Evans and the others who organized both courses, and credited the Taylorville Fire Department and Taylorville personnel with facilitating the training during the week.

The department said continuing education and joint training with neighboring departments are necessary to maintain the skills its firefighters and paramedics use in the field, and said it expects to take part in additional joint training.

Taylorville is in Christian County, roughly 30 miles northeast of Litchfield.
