The organization had wanted to add a third field at Davis Park but was not able to, the minutes state, and instead added a temporary field at Echlin Park. The record does not say why a third field could not be accommodated, how long the temporary Echlin Park field will remain, or whether the district set any conditions on the dirt work. Stuck Toilet Produces About $470 Water Bill at Schalk

Commissioner Sherry Bergschneider reported for the Ball Parks committee that a toilet stuck in one of the restrooms at Schalk, “resulting in an appx. $470.00 water bill.” Separately, a fuse went out on the ball field lights in the middle of a game, stopping play. “Both items have been repaired, and everything appears to be in good order,” the minutes state. The record does not say when either failure occurred, whether the water bill will be contested or absorbed, or what the repairs cost. The Schalk restrooms are also the site of the $55,000 renovation the district will fund with a Kilton Fund award after this year’s baseball season.

Walton Park Concert Series Opens June 12 With a Lineup Change

The district’s Walton Park concert series begins Friday, June 12, 2026, with a substitution. “Due to a scheduling issue, this month’s band will be B&B Strings, sponsored by Bank and Trust Litchfield,” the minutes state. The City Heat Band will perform Friday, July 17, sponsored by Heartland Bank & Trust Litchfield. All other concerts in the series remain as scheduled. The minutes do not name the band originally booked for June, nor list the full season lineup or start times. The district’s Walton Park advertising account took in $50.00 in May, from HSHS St. Francis Hospital.

Celebrate Walton Park Event Set for June 6

Vice President Katie Cross reported that the Celebrate Walton Park event “is coming together.” Mayor Jake Fleming was to give the opening, followed by a brief history of Walton Park, with a full version of the park’s history available by QR code. Planned activities include a kickball tournament hosted by TLC, yard games, a bounce house, a DJ, fishing, basketball, pickleball, free family photos and a food truck. The May 6, 2026, minutes set the event for June 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walton Park — three days after this meeting.
