LITCHFIELD — The Litchfield City Council on Thursday, May 21, 2026, voted unanimously to award a bid for Lake Lou Yaeger campground improvements to Stutz Excavating, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $849,717.90. Alderperson Robbin Huffman made the motion, seconded by Alderperson Sara Zumwalt, and it passed 7-0 with Alderperson Dwayne Gerl absent.

Vazquez said the project is the expansion of the Bicentennial Campground, and Mayor Jacob Fleming said a portion of the cost is coming from grant funds, with the city required to match the grant amount. Vazquez said the city received the grant in 2023 for the project.

The award comes as the city marks the 60th anniversary of Lake Lou Yaeger. Earlier in the meeting, during his city report, Fleming highlighted the lake’s beach house, which he said is opening for the season and now accepts debit and credit cards, and encouraged residents to visit over the Memorial Day weekend.
