Litchfield’s Offensive Barrage Overwhelms Greenville in 7-0 Conference Shutout
The Litchfield varsity girls’ soccer team delivered another dominant conference performance on Thursday, utilizing a relentless offensive attack and stifling defense to secure a 7-0 home victory over Greenville.
Litchfield controlled the pitch from the opening whistle, putting the Greenville defense under intense and immediate pressure. The hosts methodically dismantled the opposing backline, building a comfortable 4-0 advantage by halftime. The offensive onslaught continued into the second half, with Litchfield netting three additional goals before the match concluded in the 78th minute. In total, Litchfield generated a staggering 29 shots on goal.
Despite the lopsided final score, Greenville (25-26) junior goalkeeper Selah Field turned in a valiant effort between the pipes. Facing a constant barrage of high-quality scoring opportunities, Field recorded an impressive 22 saves over 78 minutes of action, battling until the final whistle to keep her team in the contest.
On the opposite end of the field, Litchfield’s defensive unit was completely impenetrable. Greenville managed just three total shot attempts for the entire match—all coming off the foot of junior Bailey Taylor. However, the Litchfield backline maintained its pristine shape, ensuring not a single shot found the target to secure yet another flawless clean sheet.
