Laker Tosses Shutout, Bowker Collects Four Hits as Pana Blanks Litchfield 12-0

A relentless offensive attack and a stellar pitching performance from senior Joey Laker propelled the Pana varsity softball team to a commanding 12-0 conference road victory over Litchfield on Thursday afternoon.

Pana (25-26) wasted no time seizing control of the game, erupting for three runs in the top of the first inning and adding five more in the second. Senior Kennedy Bowker was the primary offensive catalyst, turning in a masterful 4-for-5 performance at the plate while scoring twice and swiping three bases. Litchfield’s defense struggled to contain the pressure, committing seven errors on the day, which allowed Pana to capitalize and turn a steady stream of base runners into an insurmountable early lead.

Armed with an 8-0 cushion after just two frames, Laker went to work in the circle. The senior scattered seven hits over seven scoreless innings, striking out five and walking only one to earn the complete-game shutout. Laker also helped her own cause offensively, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Sophomores Adrianne Perry and Norah Kingery joined the hit parade, each collecting a pair of hits and scoring twice to keep the lineup moving. Pana was aggressive on the basepaths all afternoon, compiling seven stolen bases as a team.

Despite the lopsided score, Litchfield (25-26) manufactured several scoring opportunities but struggled to deliver the clutch hit, leaving nine runners stranded on base. Alexis Mielke and Kinley Hemken paced the hosts with two hits apiece, while Aria Feeley, AJ Jarman, Chloe Green, and Madi Rimar all chipped in with base knocks.

Mielke started in the circle for Litchfield, taking the loss after allowing eight runs (three earned) on six hits over the first two innings. Feeley provided steady relief for the hosts, striking out six while yielding four runs (two earned) across the final five frames.
