The district’s Summer Concert Series will feature four events spread across the summer months, with each concert scheduled to run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Attendees will also have access to on-site food and beverages provided by the Sweet P’s food truck.

In addition to the concert series, the board received an update on the upcoming “Celebrate Walton Park” event, which is scheduled for June 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Commissioner Katie Cross, who is heading the planning committee, reported that the group has gathered a wide variety of ideas designed to appeal to all age groups.
The committee is currently searching for a historian with specific knowledge of Walton Park to present a talk during the event. Cross noted that the district is also actively looking for volunteers to assist with the celebration.
The local TLC/LCP group intends to partner with the Park District during the Celebrate Walton Park event by sponsoring a kickball game.
Commissioner Jaylynn Taylor also provided a recap of the district’s recent Easter Egg Hunt, describing the Recreation and Reinvesting committee’s event as a “huge success.” Volunteers distributed approximately 4,500 eggs for the hunt, alongside various prizes for each age group.
Taylor extended special thanks to local residents Buck and Jenny Longwell, who donated bicycles to serve as the grand prizes for all age brackets. The event was heavily supported by local donors and featured appearances by the Easter Bunny, Misses Cottontail, the Chamber Junior Miss, and three volunteers. The district placed a thank-you advertisement in the Journal News to recognize the community’s support.
