Litchfield Park Board Approves Urgent Computer System Upgrade to Retain Accounting Software

Litchfield Park District Board Meeting | March 4, 2026

Article Summary: The Litchfield Park District Board unanimously approved an emergency upgrade of its internal computer systems after an IT review revealed the current hardware is too old to support Windows 11 and vital QuickBooks accounting software.

Computer Upgrade Key Points:

  • Executive Director Bryant initiated a system review with Illini Tech following ongoing computer issues.

  • The current computers are incompatible with Windows 11 due to their age.

  • Without the upgrade, the district would lose critical access to QuickBooks support.

  • The board passed the hardware replacement motion via a roll call vote.

The Litchfield Park District Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, voted to immediately upgrade the district’s computer systems to prevent a lapse in critical financial software support.

The need for new hardware was presented under New Business after the district had recently experienced ongoing problems with its existing computers. Executive Director Bryant contacted Illini Tech to complete a comprehensive system review.

The technology firm concluded that the district’s current computers must be replaced due to their advanced age, as they cannot be upgraded to support the Windows 11 operating system. According to the meeting packet, Illini Tech warned that failing to perform the hardware upgrade would result in the district losing support for QuickBooks, the primary software used for the district’s financial and accounting operations.

Faced with the potential loss of vital financial infrastructure, Litchfield Park District Board Treasurer Brian Kulick made a motion to proceed with the computer system upgrade. Commissioner Jaylynn Taylor seconded the motion. The board subsequently approved the system replacement via a roll call vote.
