Park District Secures $12,000 for Memorial Pool Diving Board, Pursues $52,000 Restroom Grant

Litchfield Park District Board Meeting | March 4, 2026

Article Summary: The Litchfield Park District is advancing multiple facility upgrades, recently receiving a $12,000 grant from the Corwin Fund for a new diving board at Memorial Pool and submitting a $52,000 bid to the Kilton Fund to ensure Schalk Park restrooms are ADA compliant.

Park District Funding Key Points:

  • The district submitted a $52,000 grant request to the Kilton Fund to upgrade the Schalk Park restrooms for handicapped accessibility.

  • The Corwin Fund awarded the district $12,000 to assist with the purchase of a low diving board for Memorial Pool.

  • Memorial Pool will officially open to the public on Memorial Day Weekend.

The Litchfield Park District Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, reported significant progress on funding critical infrastructure upgrades across the district’s park facilities and Memorial Pool.

According to the meeting agenda, the board is actively pursuing outside grant funding to cover large-scale capital improvements. Under Old Business, the board reviewed a formal submission to the Kilton Fund. The district is requesting $52,000 to finance a project that will make the existing restroom facilities at Schalk Park fully handicapped accessible.

The board also shared a successful funding update regarding Memorial Pool. Following a recent request submitted to the Corwin Fund for financial assistance to purchase a new low diving board, the district announced it had successfully secured $12,000 toward the project.

The diving board funding arrives as the district prepares Memorial Pool for the summer season. The pool is officially scheduled to open on Memorial Day Weekend. The pool manager and the Concessions Assistant Manager are slated to return for the 2026 season, alongside several returning lifeguards. The district noted that they are “still working on the diving board situation and hopefully we will have it resolved by opening day.”
