Litchfield Women Capture Title, Men Take Second at North Mac Outdoor Meet

The Litchfield track and field program showcased its depth and talent on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, as both the men’s and women’s teams delivered standout performances at the first North Mac Outdoor Meet of the spring season.

Competing against a six-team field, the Litchfield women edged out Hillsboro in a tightly contested battle to claim the girls’ team championship with 112 points. On the men’s side, Litchfield amassed 171.5 points to secure a commanding runner-up finish behind Hillsboro (192 points).

Litchfield’s women built their championship performance on dominance in the middle distances and relays. Freshman Maggie Schwab was spectacular, sweeping the distance events with victories in both the 800-meter run (2:40.31) and the 1600-meter run (5:48.27). Junior Leighton Warchol also provided a key victory in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in a personal-best 1:07.69.

In the field, sophomore Kilee Hoover secured critical points by winning the high jump with a leap of 1.60 meters. Litchfield capped off their gold-medal afternoon by winning the 4×400 relay in 4:53.70, anchored by a strong team of Warchol, Schwab, Brooke Braasch, and Gracie Boden.

The Litchfield boys were just as formidable, keeping pace with Hillsboro throughout the afternoon thanks to exceptional efforts in the hurdles, jumps, and middle-distance sprints.

Senior Johnathon Bowles was a standout for Litchfield, sweeping his individual hurdle events. Bowles claimed the 110-meter hurdles in 17.34 seconds and followed it up with a win in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.07 seconds. He also ran the lead leg of Litchfield’s victorious 4×100 relay team, teaming with Alec Roach, Jaxon Ray, and Brylan Marten to clock a winning time of 44.55 seconds.

Marten, a freshman, made a massive impact in his field events. He won the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 12.44 meters and finished as the runner-up in the long jump (5.88 meters). The Panthers also flexed their strength in the 400-meter dash, with sophomore Lukas Paine taking the individual title in 55.67 seconds and teammate Andrew Boston following closely in third place.
