Litchfield Park District Board Meeting | March 4, 2026

Article Summary: The Litchfield Park District Board solidified its upcoming recreational schedule, confirming the full lineup and sponsors for the 2026 Walton Park Summer Concert Series and forming a new committee to organize a “Celebrate Walton Park” festival.

Walton Park Events Key Points:

  • The Summer Concert Series will feature four sponsored performances from June through September.

  • A “Celebrate Walton Park” event is in the early planning stages, envisioned to feature live bands, food trucks, and family activities.

  • The district’s annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for March 28, supported by local business donations and volunteers.

The Litchfield Park District Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, reviewed and finalized plans for a robust slate of community events for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

During the Recreation and Reinvesting committee report, Commissioner Jaylynn Taylor updated the board on the fully booked Walton Park Summer Concert Series. The 2026 series will run monthly from 6:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M., featuring live music and food and beverage sales from Sweet P’s food truck.

The finalized concert schedule and official sponsors include:

  • June 12: City Heat, sponsored by Heartland Bank & Trust Co.

  • July 10: B&B Strings, sponsored by Bank & Trust Litchfield.

  • August 14: The Strugglers, sponsored by 1st National Bank Litchfield.

  • September 11: Big Shake Daddies, sponsored by the Litchfield Park District.

In addition to the concert series, the board discussed taking action on a new community event tentatively titled “Celebrate Walton Park.” Board Vice-President Katie Cross outlined her vision for the event as a large-scale park party. According to the meeting materials, Cross suggested the festival include “bands, food trucks, pickleball, Bingo, fishing and bounce houses.” To move the initiative forward, the board formed a planning committee consisting of Cross, Taylor, and two additional unnamed individuals.

The district is also making final preparations for its annual Easter Egg Hunt. Taylor reported that solicitation letters have been sent to local businesses requesting donations. Dometic and T-Mobile have volunteered to help staff the event by stuffing and placing eggs. The Easter Bunny and Litchfield Chamber Royalty are scheduled to assist during the hunt, and volunteer setup will begin at noon on March 28, concluding by 2:30 P.M.

Additionally, Taylor noted that the TLC/LCP is currently organizing a kickball tournament scheduled for the end of April. Under Old Business, the board also briefly discussed the potential of hosting a “Little Miss Big Mister; Little Mister Big Miss Dance” in late April or early May, though no formal action was taken to finalize those plans.
