The Litchfield Park District Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, moved forward with plans for the upcoming summer season, approving a new community health partnership and outlining the 2026 budget process.
Under new business, the Board discussed a request from St. Francis Hospital to partner on a community Women’s Health Event scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026. The Commissioners voted to approve the partnership, with a motion to “split the rental fee” made by Commissioner Jennifer Cearlock and seconded by Commissioner Katie Cross. The motion passed unanimously among those present.
Commissioner Brian Kulick outlined the upcoming budget schedule. He reported that staff members Brian, Debbie, and Steve will begin working on the budget next month. The District plans to hold a public budget hearing prior to the regular April meeting, where the Board expects to take final action. Kulick encouraged Board members to submit any specific funding requests to the staff immediately so they can be incorporated into the draft.
Preparations for the Memorial Pool are also underway. A report submitted regarding the pool noted that letters were sent in December to previous employees inviting them to return. Several staff members have already confirmed their intent to come back for the 2026 season. Staff will work with the pool manager to determine how many new hires are needed. The report also alluded to necessary repairs and replacements required before the pool can open, with more updates expected in future meetings.
In recreation news, the Walton Park Summer Concert Series is taking shape. Two of the three banks contacted for sponsorship have responded, and the District is awaiting a third confirmation. The Park District will sponsor the final concert of the series. The bands “B&B Strings” and “The Big Shake Daddies” have been officially booked, with hopes to finalize the remaining two acts later this month.
