The Montgomery County Board on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, advanced a community agreement with a solar developer and received a status report on a large-scale wind project.
Development & Personnel Committee Chairman Chad Ruppert reported that the committee had reviewed a proposed Community Benefits Agreement with Summit Ridge Energy. The agreement includes a $25,000 donation from the developer to the SCI Center in Litchfield. The board voted unanimously to approve the Montgomery First Community Engagement Agreement with Summit Ridge Energy.
The board also received an update regarding Pattern Energy. Company representative Maggie Poteau had reported to the committee that land acquisition for their project is nearly complete. Poteau anticipates the project will move into the permitting phase in early 2027.
During the public comment section of the meeting, resident Bill Schroeder requested details on the specific acreage and location of the Pattern Energy project. In his committee report, Ruppert noted that the developer is under no obligation to reveal details before submitting a siting application, though he understands the project is proposed for the northern and eastern parts of the county.
