The Litchfield Community Unit School District No. 12 Board of Education met on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, to conduct a public hearing on the 2025 tax levy and address regular business. In addition to approving the tax levy and a student field trip, the board handled various personnel matters, facility improvements, and cooperative agreements with neighboring districts.
Donation for Teacher Supplies:
Superintendent Dr. McLean announced that Dr. Bilader has donated $50,000 to the Litchfield Student Education Fund. The funds will provide $350 gift cards to all 94 certified staff members for immediate classroom use, with remaining funds used for other student and staff purchases.
Athletic Co-op Expanded:
The board approved a cooperative agreement with the Mt. Olive School District for middle school athletics for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years. The agreement renews the sharing of baseball and softball programs and adds wrestling, which will be hosted by Litchfield.
Health Life Safety Work:
The board approved $46,500 in Health Life Safety work items for Litchfield High School, Middle School, and the Early Childhood Center. The work, identified during a walkthrough by FGMA, includes updates to doors, hardware, and fire rating elements.
Student Recognitions:
The board recognized several students and staff members for their achievements. Mrs. Amanda Lamore was honored for achieving National Board Certification. Fifteen students were recognized as Illinois State Scholars. Additionally, three students—Brooke Brush, Olivia Goldman, and Sam Schwab—were recognized as finalists in the NPR “This I Believe” writing contest.
Sky View Agreement:
The board approved a cooperative agreement with Sky View Drive-In. Dr. McLean noted that this agreement is part of the district’s reunification plan within its broader crisis management protocols, allowing the district to utilize the theater’s space if necessary.
Behavior Support Contract:
The board approved a contracting agreement with Emergent Learning Centers, LLC. The agreement secures a behavior therapist for the district for three days a week for the next 60 days to support student needs.
