HILLSBORO, Ill. – The Montgomery County Board on Tuesday, November 12, 2025, formally appointed leadership for two key county offices.
Chairman Doug Donaldson presented a letter from the Montgomery County Republican Central Committee recommending Brian Shaw to fill the vacancy for State’s Attorney. The board voted unanimously to appoint Shaw to the position.
In a separate action, the board appointed Tysha Mullen as the Montgomery County Supervisor of Assessments. Development & Personnel Committee Chairman Chad Ruppert reported that Mullen passed the required state examination on her first attempt with an “extremely high score.”
Mullen was appointed to a four-year term beginning December 1, 2025, with a starting salary of $72,500. County Clerk Sandy Leitheiser administered the oath of office to Mullen immediately following the vote.
Additionally, the board approved a salary increase for the County Engineer. Resolution 2025-10 sets the engineer’s salary at $137,546 for FY2026, representing a 4% increase. This compromise figure was reached after the Roads & Bridges committee debated between the state’s recommended 3% and a possible 5% increase.
