Preparations for the summer swim season began Tuesday, December 3, 2025, as the Litchfield Park District Board addressed maintenance and staffing needs for the community pool.
A report presented regarding the pool identified three critical maintenance items that must be addressed before opening next year: replacing the grate in the well, repairing or replacing the chemical controller, and replacing the diving board.
A representative from Capri Pool is scheduled to inspect the chemical controller and diving board on December 11. The report noted that the controller issues might be resolved with a new probe. A new well grate will be ordered after the first of the year.
The board also approved a request to have the pool manager trained as a Certified Pool Operator. Director Bryant recommended the training to assist the manager in keeping the pool in good running order. The cost for the certification is approximately $400, and classes can be taken in person or online.
Regarding staffing, the board announced it will send letters this month to employees invited to return for the upcoming season. The district will also place advertisements in the local newspaper and send applications to the high school to recruit new staff.
