Litchfield City Council Meeting | Nov. 20, 2025

The Litchfield City Council met on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, for its final meeting before the Thanksgiving holiday. The session was dominated by discussions regarding Lake Lou Yaeger, including a debate over the winter water level and the approval of a new non-profit partner. The council also authorized a major switch in insurance providers and approved emergency spending for the water treatment plant.

Mayor Jacob Fleming opened the meeting by wishing the community a Happy Thanksgiving. All votes taken during the session were unanimous.

Water Plant Emergency Spending:
The council approved a waiver of competitive bidding to purchase monitoring equipment for the water treatment plant. The city authorized $2,229.71 for HF Scientific rehabilitation equipment and $32,848.90 for new chloramine monitoring equipment from USA BlueBook. City Administrator Breann Vazquez reported that while the plant is stabilizing and water is safe, the facility is still using free chlorine while repairs to the monochloramine and ammonia feed lines are underway.

West Side Fire Station Update:
During his report, Mayor Fleming shared an update on the development near the West Side Fire Department. He noted that city officials met recently with representatives from National Primers. The project remains on track, with the company aiming to break ground in the spring.

Demolition Approved:
The board approved a resolution authorizing a demolition agreement for a residential property at 1325 N. Jackson St. The demolition is being funded through the city’s Strong Communities Program grant funding.

2026 Meeting Schedule:
The council unanimously approved the regular meeting dates for the City Council and the city holiday schedule for the 2026 calendar year.
