Litchfield Park District Board Meeting | Oct. 1, 2025

The Litchfield Park District Board met on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, to review maintenance projects and upcoming fall events. The board paused a renovation request from Litchfield Baseball Inc. regarding Schalk Field, requiring a formal presentation before work begins. Commissioners also addressed the decaying state of the Walton Park statue and discussed potential hiring for summer program planning.

In financial matters, the board approved the monthly financial reports and minutes from September. Commissioner Brian Kulick noted that budget and levy preparation will begin soon, urging commissioners to submit any specific requests to him or Director Steve Bryant.

News Briefs:

Rip Rap Project Scheduled:
The rip rap project at Walton Park is scheduled for completion during the first week of November. The board confirmed that the costs for this project will be covered by Richie Funds.

Trunk or Treat Needs Help:
The annual Trunk or Treat event is set for October 24. While hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be served, the district currently lacks volunteers to set up and supervise children’s games. Commissioner Jaylynn Taylor will contact Litchfield Community Partners to request assistance.

Community Center Construction:
Commissioner Katie Cross reported progress on the concession stand and restroom project. Tardis is currently creating a template for the foundation and building layout. Groundwork is expected to begin as soon as possible once the template is received.

Fall Events Calendar:
Commissioner Jaylynn Taylor updated the board on several community events. Litchfield Community Partners (LCP) will host a block party on October 25, and the Festival of Trees will take place on November 15 at the Community Center. Additionally, the TLC kickball league has moved its season from fall to spring.

Concert Season Concludes:
The final concert of the season at Walton Park, held on September 12 featuring the Big Shake Daddies, was reported as well-attended. This marked the conclusion of the summer concert series.
