  • Timeline: Construction is expected to begin possibly next spring, depending on weather and contractor schedules.

Major repairs are coming to the industrial sector of Litchfield as the City Council approved a contract for the Skyview Drive improvement project on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2025.

Baxmeyer Construction was the low bidder for the project at $1,936,997.77, which officials noted was $300,000 under the engineer’s estimate.

The roadway, located in the Route 66 Industrial Park, has suffered significant deterioration due to heavy truck traffic.

“Skyview Drive road has taken a beating since the road was built,” the agenda background stated. “During inspection of the subgrade, it was found that the road did not have a suitable base therefore a new base needs to be built.”

Lee Beckman of Milano & Grunloh Engineers reported that the project will likely start in the spring. He noted the road will be constructed one lane at a time to keep traffic flowing for the businesses in the industrial park.
